A Crash Course in Collaborating with Composers

Led by composer and collaborator Will Wright, this workshop will be a fun and functional conversation for puppeteers, theater/filmmakers and anyone interested in finding, hiring and collaborating with composers on their work.

Part forum, part interactive, this workshop will cover all the ways to approach the collaboration, how to start hearing your ideas, and ways to make working with composers fun and functional for you both.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: 

William Wright (b. 1980) is a composer for the screen, stage and concert hall. Known best for his dramatic score for Hulu’s This World Alone, the Tennessee composer has had works premiered across the globe, everywhere from New Music festivals in Russia to America’s Big
Ears Music Festival, where Wright is a 3x performer. Wright was most recently named Director
of Music Composition at the National Puppetry Conference, where he was a participant composer in previous years. In 2022, he was named Best Composer for the Screen by Milan
Italy’s Screen Music Program and in 2023 was honored as Best Composer at Film Fest Knox. Working as in-house Composer and Creative Audio Director for Popfizz Productions, Wright has received three Gold Addy’s. Beyond his own musical pursuits, Wright's passion is to help educate composers and those who will hire them on how to find each other and successfully create together.
William Wright is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Berklee College of Music, where he studied Music Composition for Film and Television. He currently lives in East Tennessee with his very nice family.
