About Your Instructor
Kari Love is known about town for costuming, puppets, humans, and robots. With nearly 20 years of costuming experience for stage and screen, she continues to be particularly excited to solve a novel problem. As a puppet costumer she has worked on productions such as Sesame Street, Helpsters, Julie’s Green Room, and Happytown Murders. As a puppet builder she draped for beloved characters, like the Very Hungry Caterpillar, and also performed maintenance on the Sven and Olaf puppets for the Broadway production of Frozen. Her Spider-man costume for the Broadway production of “Spider-man: Turn Off The Dark” was inducted into the Smithsonian collection.
Kari is also an educator who teaches at NYU ITP (an art and technology MFA program), and various workshops such as one on “Draping for Puppet Builders” at the Puppeteers of America National Festival. She is eager to share knowledge and techniques with creators of all levels, and has great respect for fellow artists with non-traditional backgrounds.
