Needle Felting For Puppetry And Beyond ll

Join puppeteer and fiber artist J Hann in this hands-on follow up course on needle felting techniques.
We will learn beginning to intermediate techniques for adding details and getting a smooth finish. So bring in your unfinished needle felting puppet and beyond projects and we will work together to make them feltastic!

Bio:
J Hann is a puppeteer, actor, and fiber artist. Their weird and whimsical works have been performed in Italy, Greece, Serbia, Hong Kong, nationally, and in various venues in New York City. J was recently an Emerging Artist at this year’s Eugene O’Neill Puppetry Conference Previously they were a resident artist twice at the Object Movement Puppet Festival, and a Catapult Artist at the 2017 Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival. Creating Characters with
Tyler Bunch

Course Description:
Every interaction you have EVER had has included characters, let’s bring them to life. This class is appropriate for those who HAVE and HAVE NOT taken studied character development with Tyler Bunch in the past as watch class is tailored to those who attend.

Bio
Tyler Bunch has been performing characters professionally on stage, screen and audio device for thirty years as puppeteer, actor and voice artist. His career has seen him working for most of the major streaming services, networks and entertainment franchises (even as mascot for the New York Mets.) Tyler began his collegiate endeavors at Oklahoma State University and completed his undergraduate degree in theater arts at Eckerd College in St. Pete, FL. Having relocated to the NYC area in the early 90’s (and achieving moderate success as an actor early on) Mr.Bunch’s big break in the puppetry world came as part of the original cast of Bear In The Big, Blue House for the Jim Henson Company. Needle Felting for Puppetry & Beyond with Pinned & Sewtured
Date: February 11, 2023

A needle felting crash course that walks you through the basics with some advanced techniques. This workshop will cover 2D needle felting techniques (wool paintings, backdrops) as well as 3D felting. You don’t need any prior knowledge of needle felting or any other textile craft. Course taught in English/Spanish.
Instructor: Anatar Marmol-Gagne
Bio:
PINNED & SEWTURED / ANATAR MARMOL-GAGNE Director, designer and puppet theatre artist is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Puppet Arts from the University of Connecticut, and a BA in English / Creative Writing from Hunter College. Her strong background in art, dance, writing, fiber and fabrication all come together seamlessly with her love for puppetry. She has trained at the National Puppetry Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, designed puppets for The Dramatic Question Theater, Yale, performed at Dixon Place, Lyric Hall, Black Cherry Puppet Theater, Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry, festivals, puppet slams, toured her full length production “Calle Allende” and is the founder and curator of The Pinned & Sewtured Puppet Cabaret (2014). Her short films “Heart-Felt” and “The Moment Has Yet To Come” premiered at the 2019 & 2017 Reel Puppetry Film Festival at the Puppeteers of America National Puppet Festival. Her work has also been featured in multiple art shows and solo shows and was the Artist-In-Residence at Artspace in New Haven, CT. She is Workshop Chair for the 2023 Puppeteers of America National Puppet Festival: New in 2023 – workshops in Español! Her upcoming autobiographical show, Sueños, is the recipient of a 2022 Jim Henson Foundation Workshop Grant.
